This issue of Alasbimn Journal, at the beginning of 2007 inaugurates a new section on Clinical Cases of PET, the subject of image fusion with CT or MRI will be favored. The continuous growth of PET primarily in Oncology throughout Latin America during the last years calls for a section highlighting interesting clinical cases. In this issue the emphasis is Normal PET presentations and Fusion Imaging in Breast Cancer, namely PET /Ct in the paper by Dr Maldonado et al. and PET/MRI by Dr Gil et al. from Spain. We expect this section to become a window from and to Latin America on the powerful explosion of OncoPET in modern Nuclear Medicine.
In this issue we publish also Abstracts of accepted papers at the Chilean and later on Uruguayan Congresses of Nuclear Medicine during last November and early December. The material presented is interesting and of value and is a good sample of current work in Nuclear Medicine going on in these countries. With regards to this matter I would like to call the attention of the Presidents of the Brazilian, Argentinian and Colombian Societies of Nuclear Medicine that this year did not take advantage of the possibility of publishing abstracts submitted to them and thus benefiting the medical public, the authors and our Nuclear Medicine community at large. This may have resulted from communication errors but our Editorial Committee and the interested parties should do our outmost efforts to correct this deficiency.
