RESISTENCIA EN LÍNEAS DE SORGO AL GORGOJO DEL MAIZ (COLEOPTERA: CURCULIONIDAE). RESISTANCE IN SORGHUM LINES TO THE MAIZE WEEVIL (COLEOPTERA: CURCULIONI-DAE)
RESUMEN Se evaluaron 22 líneas de sorgo, Sorghum bicolor L., para resistencia al gorgojo del maíz, Sitophilus zea-mais Motschulsky, mediante pruebas con y sin selección libre, en condiciones óptimas de temperatura, humedad relativa y del grano, en base al número de huevos, progenie, pérdida de peso del grano, porcen-taje de semillas dañadas y período de desarrollo del insecto. Las líneas 'IS-932296', 'GS-712', 'Haagen-Dura-1', 'P-954063', e 'IS-8574' se encontraron consistentemente resistentes para todos los parámetros en ambas pruebas, exceptuando el período de desarrollo. SUMMARY Twenty two sorghum, Sorghum bicolor L., lines were screened for resistance to the maize weevil, Sitophi-lus zeamais Motschulsky, in free-choice and no-choice experiments under optimal temperature, relative humidity, and grain moisture, comparing the numbers of eggs, progeny, grain weight loss, percentage da-maged seeds and weevil development time. Entries 'IS-932296', 'GS-712', 'Haagen-Dura-1', 'P-954063', and 'IS-8574' were consistently resistant in both free-choice and no-choice tests for all parameters used, excepting weevil development time.
