Captación fisiológica y no maligna de [18]FDG en estudio PET de cuerpo completo.

 

 

Summary


In this text we remember the importance of a exact interpretation of [18]FDG -PET images by means of a complete knowledge of [18]FDG normal distribution in whole body. Several factors that can modify the uptake will be commented, and how to recognize and to avoid benigns uptakes and artifacts that can guide to a false positive.

We review the [18]FDG physiological and benigns uptakes and artifacts in images of head and neck, thorax, abdomen, pelvis, skeletal muscles, bone, adipose tissue, extremities, blood vessels, skin, lymphatic nodes and other.

With an adequate methodology and knowing [18]FDG normal distribution and physiological variants, clinical history of every patients, and basic principles of oncological pathologies; diagnoses more precises will be obtained by means of decrease the number of false positives.

The paper reviews literature about these facts.
